What is a BER Certificate?

The Building Energy Rating Certificate Exlained....

Simply the BER is a system to rate the Energy Efficiency of a building in relation to its construction and the services incorporated within that building.

In order to make the system simple, a scale from A to G (with color coding varying from deep red –signifying the least efficient, to dark green-signifying the most efficient) is employed to signify the energy efficiency and sustainability.

The certificate itself contains this scale and a marker indicting where on the the scale your home lies.

Though not exactly the same, it is similar to the Energy Ratings now seen on Household applainces. The rating “A” represents the highest energy efficiency where as the rating “G” signifies the lowest. Below is an example of what an actual BER cert looks like.
